I've only been looking at this blog for a short time, but already I'm starting to enjoy this one. Entries are not only short, but very informative on all sorts of stuff from differences in CD-i models, software that did - and didn't - come out for the system, and other things you can do with the CD-i!

    Definitely worth a read!

I've not messed much with the CDi, though it does seem like an interesting little system. It and the 3DO are almost like the wild west with their more "open" liscensing schemes. From manufacturer to manufacturer and title to title you don't really know what you're gonna get, and I find that exciting. :P

There is one critical difference between the two that should be considered - the 3DO was actually a gaming platform. CDi was really always just am of-the-time CD-ROM device that happened to have Nintendo involved and had some games made for it when it otherwise had zero business, with any aspect of its design, being used for conventional video games in that (or any) era.

It's such a situation that I don't consider the CDi to be a game system - it's just a CD-ROM multimedia player that had games made for it, barely a step above those VHS or DVD "games" that really have nothing much going on. It was always about the other aspects first, then vidyagamezzz.

The 3DO on the other hand was a gaming platform first and foremost giving it at least some value in the overall scene.

Well, yes, but I just mean in general. You don't know what sort of quality you're gonna get in the system much less the actual software titles, whether that be a game or other interactive form.
