• Phreaknet VoIP Services

    Hey everyone,

Just a reminder that I will soon be able to offer VoIP phone service over Phreaknet. This is a telephony network which is both practical for communicating with friends and the like, but also has a goal of trying to be a healthy re-creation of the old phone network.

This is in very much the same spirit as a previous network I have been involved in, and in fact was started by a former admin of that network -- it happens to be the guy who did the majority of the programming and thus is the person who made all the aspects of the network I really liked, and even helped out it testing.

While I'm not at the stage quite yet (there are some major changes I need to make to my setup for futures sake) it is most certainly well developed (both my end and Phreaknet in general) and can serve as a possibly awesome communications platform for most anyone with a bit of an interest in history.

You can check out the website for the project at portal.phreaknet.org (including see my directory listings, among all the others on there) and if you'd like to call into my switch directly from the PSTN, you can do such via 929-444-7176. At the second dial tone just dial any 7 digit number on the directory and enjoy the sounds of a half a decade ago in telecommunications.

Any quiestions feel free to ask. :)

Okay - that's pretty interesting!!! I called a few of them just
to see what it was all about - that's kinda cool, in a retro
    sort of way! :-)

I went to the directory and it says to hover a name to see local
time - was going to call someone just to check it out - but
hover doesn't do anything for me...

I'm central time zone, BTW - and I don't know which one YOU are
as I see your "handle" in this message (reading offline).
