I was not expecting to see this in my subscription box -- a review of the "pornographic" Atari 2600 game Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em. I'm not complaining, I just found it surprising.
Actually, props to him for just doing the review and not pussyfooting around the subject matter and actually addressing the game for what it actually is -- a novelty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppYzQTm4D_M
Holy fuck that was absurd. I had a little bit of armor and health left at the last stage, where you fly out of the base, right? Well fuck me if the Jetpack isn't a piece of shit in DE. Flys like shit, aiming with the thing is shit, everything is shit.
So of course trying to get out of the thing I got shredded about a couple of dozen times before finally getting lucky and not getting killed mid-air. My entire tactic was to run up the stairs and kill the 3 guys inside the tunnel, THEN fly up out of there and hope I wouldn't get hit too badly -- it was about a half second I had of life left before game over... and after all those tries I finally got lucky and had success.
Never again. Holy shit, just never again with that garbage. Fuck, I know DE isn't going to be the best experience but the later you get in it the worse things become... Still, I'm invested this far, I'll be damned if I don't finish SA, then go back to GTA3 and VC, but fucking hell, this is a chore.
Still, oddly, I'm having fun.. it's just hyper frustrating moments like this that make me need to rant. I just don't recall this mission being that hard on PS2 back in the day. Hell, I really miss auto-targeting like the 3D era games had -- I was a master at using it, but on PC? At least in these versions? forget about it.
Also songs having been removed sucks, but that's something I can at least understand.. even if I don't like it. Licensing should be perpetual for the creative sub-work, but I digress.... this isn't the thread for that argument.
Subject: Let's Play Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRrPSkwBl7Mc4EJPf6cTrB429rhSv1O7O
This one is a big one. Compared to the first, Going Commando is a bigger game. Aside from new gameplay mechanics including having multiple hit points that become more plentiful as you play through the game, several new modes of transportation that are used in specific sections of planets, armor that can decrease the amount of damage taken, and guns that evolve when you use them enough, you'll be spending plenty of time trying to get everything. One of the last few videos that I made took numerous weeks just to get 50 minutes of footage so I could evolve all the guns and get to maximum health.
If you like the first game, you're obviously going to love the second. You have a brand new story with a new galaxy and new planets where you're expected to be the hero after saving a whole galaxy in the first game, there's a lot more of everything, there's a more cohesive story this time around, there's more guns, there's armor this time around, there are now battle arena where you can fight enemies, and there's a lot of things to do that require a big amount of time to do it all. Meanwhile, the controls that made the first game fun and the absolute destruction you have to cause to get from beginning to end remain.
I still have one more video to make when I get the time, and it involves a museum of things that can be found in-game. I'll let you all know when that video is made. For now, enjoy the game.

Subject: Let's Play The Pink Panther in Pinkadelic Pursuit
Yep, there's a Pink Panther game for PS1, and not surprisingly, it's a late-era release for the system. This one is meant more for young kids, but even then, it can have its hard parts, such as the final level of the game before the final boss. Still, it's an alright game.

Forgot to put "Let's Play The Ring Of Time" in the subject line, since that's the name of the game. D'oh!
the easy way to fix that would be to delete and reopost. However, User access control is a bit strange in Citadel so without making you an aide you can't just do said delete and re-post.
I would toggle you to Aide, but I don't want to make using the BBS annoying for you. Trust me, you don't want the aide posts every day where the server tells you what it's doing. Haha.
I had the feeling it was easier said than done...
Subject: Let's Play GG Doraemon: Nora no Suke no Yabou
Never thought I'd be playing one of the many Doraemon games, but here we are. This one is actually pretty playable, given what we're working with. Definitely meant for younger gamers, which explains the light-hearted presentation that really works for the game. The scavenger hunt for the kids is a nice touch and adds a little bit of depth to a game that didn't exactly need it but got it anyway. You can beat this one in an hour if you know what you're doing, and I didn't have much in the way of problem as far as graphics, sounds and even play control were concerned. One to take a look at, for sure.

At long last, I've finally played through all the game modes on Berzerk for Atari 2600. Not much to say about this one except that it is one of the absolute classic arcade ports for the 2600 and definitely a game to get for it. I improved my game a lot just from making videos for this one.
I'll eventually have longplays for all twelve game modes; they'll just be posted between Let's Plays so as to make more time for the stuff I've made since playing through Berzerk.
Game 1: https://youtu.be/oK4YuIOnkPk
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari.html
If there was any game from the early 1980s that was definitely getting an Atari 2600 port, it was Berzerk. In the first game variation, you just have to worry about the robots and their lasers, and you get an extra life every 1,000 points.
---
Game 2: https://youtu.be/WU7mMapRwmA
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_11.html
Game 2 introduces Evil Otto, the evil smiley face that comes after you if you're on a screen for too long. He can be shot down, but he always comes back before long.
---
Game 3: https://youtu.be/4oT7HljfE_I
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0958363052.html
Uh-oh. Evil Otto is invincible now, compared to Game 2. Do you risk getting those bonus points from shooting all the robots, or do you hightail it to the next room?
---
Game 4: https://youtu.be/GWIZK3Ko8Yw
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0764864798.html
Game 4 plays much like Game 1, but now you have to get 2,000 points to earn an extra life, making survival a lot harder.
---
Game 5: https://youtu.be/-RjUgPb9HA0
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_02051197146.html
We're back to playing with the "2,000 point" rule for extra lives, but now Evil Otto is back. At least we can get rid of him temporarily.
---
Game 6: https://youtu.be/2PVeFmkCaRQ
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_01188672919.html
Game 6 is the same game as Game 5, but Evil Otto is invincible. Compared to the first three game variations, Games 4-6 make it harder to have a longer game.
---
Game 7: https://youtu.be/l_LDI4IPzvw
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_01136460989.html
For this game, there are no extra lives and it's just you and the robots again. You'll have to play really well in order to get a high score here.
---
Game 8: https://youtu.be/Rto_ygW7tsA
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0612007827.html
Game 8 is just like Game 7 in which you don't have any extra lives, but Evil Otto is involved. You can shoot him down to get rid of him temporarily, but still...
---
Game 9: https://youtu.be/Hp4vWDEfT94
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0567914582.html
Evil Otto is invincible, the robots are armed and dangerous, and there are no extra lives. Welcome to the hardest game variation on the cartridge.
---
Game 10: https://youtu.be/LI90Um2lW58
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_01562359016.html
Things get a little less difficult for Game 10. Evil Otto may be invincible, but you get extra lives at 1,000 points again and the robots don't shoot at you for once.
---
Game 11: https://youtu.be/JHHRFkaALdA
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0452065904.html
In Game 11, the robots don't shoot, and this time, Evil Otto temporarily disappears when you shoot him, making this a little easier than Game 10.
---
Game 12: https://youtu.be/Sx8CDuGm5LY
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_02015454040.html
Game 12 is the easiest of them all, as the robots don't shoot and Evil Otto is nowhere to be seen. This is the perfect game variation for small children as well as anyone who wants to get used to how to shoot the robots down.
---
Part 13: https://youtu.be/fjcusxHmkIE
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_0147302417.html
In 2002, Mike Mika hacked the game so that not only did the colors match more closely to the arcade version, but the game would play sound bites in-between rooms. There's not a lot of voice samples here, but what's here is pretty nice.
---
Longplay 1: https://youtu.be/uUCGiUqieiE
Blog entry: https://princewatercress.blogspot.com/2024/08/princewatercress-plays-berzerk-atari_01228217486.html
With all of the game variations being pretty easy to pick up and play, I've decided to make commentary-free longplays of each and every one of them. For this longplay, we play the first of twelve game variations, where there is no Evil Otto and we just have the robots shooting at us.
Longplays of each game mode will be posted between Let's Plays, so as not to take any more time from the other games that I've Let's Played since.
Subject: Let's Play Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (Game Boy)
The controls have a lot going on here, like it's a Game Boy game trying to be a Super Nintendo game in terms of all the things you can do...so much so, that you have to press Select and Start simultaneously to pause.
